In February 2026, BASSpak and Silent Sound System were used to facilitate two Valentine’s Day dances at the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children.
Children, teachers, and student’s aids were given several different types of Silent Sound System silent disco headphones to choose from so that everyone was hearing or feeling the same music at the same time.
Silent disco headphone technology uses radio waves from a transmitter to send the same audio to everyone who is using the headphones. BASSpaks were connected to the headphones using an auxiliary cable, which allowed students to feel the same music others were hearing, as well.
There were standard headphones, bone conduction headphones, and HiFi headphones offered to students that day. Many students rotated between different headphones as the dances went on to see which they liked best. Favorite headphones varied based on child and their individual needs.
The smiles and laughs were infectious, and K-Pop Demon Hunters‘ track Golden was requested multiple times and was the most popular song of the day. We all learned how to understand the sign for “K-POP” by the end of the event!
The kids, teachers, aids, and our staff all had a wonderful and heartwarming experience at this Valentine’s Day Dance!
We are grateful for the Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children for partnering with us for this and other events this year. We are proud that our technology can be used to help with accessibility for all!
